- Is the test text uploaded?
- No. Both the pattern and the test text are handled in your browser with the native RegExp engine, without going through a server.
- What do flags like g / i / m mean?
- g matches globally; i ignores case; m makes ^ and $ match per line; s lets . match newlines; u enables Unicode; y is sticky. Click to toggle them.
- Why is only one match shown without g?
- It matches JavaScript: without g only the first match is returned; with g all matches are listed. Replacement behaves the same way.
- Can I use the common patterns as they are?
- Click a pattern under "Common patterns" to fill in a template for email, phone numbers, ID numbers and more, then adjust it as needed.
